|Arthur J. Elliott, 83, of North Huntingdon, died Sunday February 9, 2014, in Kane Regional Center, McKeesport. He was born January 16, 1931, in North Braddock, a son of the late Arthur J “Port” and Mary Catherine (Brown) Elliott. Art was retired as head of safety for U.S. Steel, Mon Valley Works, a Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of the German Beneficial Union, Duquesne. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by siblings, Thomas Connelly, Mary Elliott Smith, and Emma Jane Elliott Ignacic. He is survived by his wife Monica K. (Heaps) Elliott; children Robert E. (Elise) Elliott of Charlotte, NC, Arthur J. (Eileen) Elliott III of Independence, KY, Patricia L. Prestel of Dublin, OH, and special niece Melissa Smith of Irwin; grandchildren Jonathan, Jason, Jennifer, and Robby Elliott, Griffin and Charlie Jones, Mary and Arthur Elliott IV,Ryan Prestel, Glen Frazier, Tyler Prestel, Tyler Frazier, and Jordan Prestel; seven great grandchildren; siblings, Edward “Spike” Connelly of Colorado Springs, CO, Ron Connelly of Charlotte, NC, Marlyn Connelly Keene of Mars, John Connelly of North Huntingdon, and Kate Connelly Chavez of Albuquerque, NM; also nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the William Snyder Funeral Home, 521 Main Street, Irwin, 724-863-1200, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday with Dr. Ronald H. Wakeman, officiating. In lieu of flowers a contribution can be made to Parkinson Chapter of Greater Pittsburgh, 6507 Wilkins Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15217.
